National Pocket Bike Series - 2009 Results

Round 1 - Whilton Mill
Firstly thank you to everyone who attended our first round at Whilton Mill in March, and a big thank you to all volunteers and staff who made the weekend not only possible but also enjoyable. Welcome to all our new members for this year, some of whom have never raced before. Well done to you and we hope you enjoyed yourselves. The weekend started with some awful weather conditions making qualifying and Heat 1 of Pitbikes, Mini GP’s and GP4’s difficult. Sunday saw much better weather, with good track conditions.

Round 2 - Tattershall
Firstly thank you to everyone who attended Round 2 at Tattershall, it was a great turn out and we hope you all enjoyed yourselves. As always, a big thank you to all volunteers and staff, without whom, the weekend would not be possible. Many thanks to Jesse, Akira and Lauren, whose help as runners etc was invaluable.

Also thanks to Julian who provided food and beverages free of charge to all on Saturday night, and thank you to all members for your behaviour during the weekend. We had minimal trouble, which makes life easier for everyone. Please let it continue.

Welcome to all our new members at Round 2, well done to you and we hope you enjoyed yourselves and will see you through out the season. The weekend started with incredible weather, which lasted through to Sunday. Hopefully most of the riders got used to the track quickly and they produced some fabulous racing for the spectators.

Round 3 - Lydd.
Round 3 is at Lydd on 30th and 31st May, we hope to see you all there. Please send your entry forms in to Hullavington or to myself as soon as possible. As you know, this helps us to get you onto the system in advance, you don’t incur the late entry fee and you don’t spend so long waiting at signing on. To clarify, late entry fee will apply to signing on on Saturday morning (as this can make the riding start late), but will not apply if you sign on on Friday night.

Please also remember to keep the venue tidy and free from rubbish. Bin bags are available from myself and from the lorry should you need them. I can be found Saturdays and Sundays in the time keeping office or my caravan, should you require any assistance.

Any timekeeping issues can be logged with myself at any time, and they will be dealt with during the lunch hours or at the end of the day. Please do not trouble Scotty with these during racing/qualifying, as his job requires concentration at all times and it may affect further timekeeping. Please remember to swap your transponder over onto the correct bike. Many thanks to all riders for their patience in waiting for race result sheets.

Half Price Entry to all NEW Members at Round 3.
We are offering half price entry to any new members at Lydd. You will need to pay a membership fee, you will then get half price entry to your classes, however you will still pay the £10 transponder hire if you require one.

Track Day Friday 29th May 09.
Lydd will be open for track day on Friday, 10am – 6pm £40 per rider.

Conti Cup.
The NPS are running a Conti Cup for 2009. This is free to register for; forms are available from myself if you ride a Conti machine. All points accumulated during the season will go towards this award, but will not affect the class championships. Forms are available from myself via e-mail or during signing on Saturday 30th May 09.

Conti Cup Results After Round 2:

Lewis Black = 140
Sam Edwards (50cc Conti) = 109
Sam Edwards (70cc Conti) = 101
Jake Mason = 55
James Nagy = 39

Well done to all Conti riders, especially to James who has only ever raced twice. (Please note: if you think I have made any mistakes in it adding up, please e-mail me – they all blurred together after a while!)

Team Points Challenge.
Jules has kindly offered to put prize money for a team award. We will need teams of 3 riders to register; their points throughout the season will be added together. The team at the end of the season will receive £250 to share between them! Hopefully some of the youngsters will want to take part, creating team spirit. It is free to enter; forms are available from myself via e-mail or during signing on. We will need at least 10 teams to go ahead, and I now have 9 teams.

To clarify: if you ride 2 classes, you may choose only one per team. You will then stick to that class throughout the season (you can not swap them around); however you may use your other class to form another team.

I will send the running totals for the Team Points Challenge and the Conti Cup via the newsletter, and also add it to the NPS website, so you can track your progress.

Team results after Round 2:

Team Yorkshire = 347
Team Polly Racing = 335
Team JST = 327
Team GRC = 310
Team Venom Racing = 306
Team BSL = 278
Team Wiltshire = 236
Team Venom 2 = 188
Team McCrash = 117

Well done to all teams – come on you kids – beat those adults to the money! (Please note: if you think I have made any mistakes in it adding up, please e-mail me – they all blurred together after a while!)

Membership Cards.
I still have some membership cards in my possession. If you have not yet received one, they will be available at Tattershall.

Scrutineering.
Please be aware that all bikes need correct race numbers. This will be picked up on during scrutineering.

Photography.
Talented photographer Jon Wishart was with us at Round 1, our thanks also go to him for volunteering to help us out on Sunday. He should be at Round 2 on the Sunday only. Please visit his website www.jonwishartphotography.com to find photos of yourself and more info.
